The course is aimed at providing students with a broad picture on the English law of torts. English law, which has been heavily influenced by its own historical developments, is in many respects distant from the tort law of civil tradition. Since we are trained in a civil law system, how to properly understand English tort law with a pair of civil-law glasses is one of the key issues for us to overcome when studying English law; and it is the overcoming of it to which the course is devoted.
